Inventions that have changed the world around me

- in my time, we had to invent the things we needed to make our lives better. What is your generation doing?

• Air Conditioning - we used to open the windows and turn on fans to keep cool
• Plastics - lightweight, moldable, flexible materials
• Color TV - what a difference color can make
• Frozen Foods - food with color, flavor & taste!
• Clothes Washer - load and come back later
• Clothes Dryer - no more hanging on the clothesline
• Power Steering - so much easier to make turns in the driveway
• Automatic Transmissions - frees up the left foot and right arm
• FM Radio - better quality sound (but traveled less distance)
• Gas Heat - no more delays on home delivery of coal or oil
• Radial Tires - safer and smoother ride in the car
• Snow Blower - beats hand shoveling by far
• Juke Box - music at our favorite hangouts
• Ball Point Pen - no more ink stained hands or ruined shirts
• Electric Guitar - new sounds and volume
• Electric Keyboard (piano/organ) - much easier to transport
• Passenger Jet - get places faster and quieter
• Seedless Oranges - couldn\'t eat the seeds anyways
• Seat Belts - no longer gettng thrown out the windows in a car accident
• Air Bags - much more surviveability in a car accident
• Cable TV - added many channels, we had 5 without it
• Remote Control for TV - saves the wife from getting up for me
• Barcodes - greatly reduced queue lines at cash registers
• Space travel to the moon - explorations and new technologies
• Microwave Ovens - faster cooking at less cost
• Calculators - replaced slide rules and adding machines
• Smoke Detectors - will wake you and save your life
• Birth Control Pills
• Precision Guided Standoff Weapons - less loss of life for both sides of a war. Now if we can just eliminate wars!
• Global Positioning - I know exactly where I am on the earth
• Personal Computer - replaced typewriters and do so much more
• Light Emitting Diodes - bright, tough, and low power
• Internet - email, chat, databases, information for everyone
• Cell Phones - find me anytime, if I decide to turn it on
• Lithium Ion Batteries - much lighter and many recharge cycles
• Digital TV - Much clearer picture (but travels much less distance when over the air)
• Ethenol - sustainable fuel source from plants
• Personal Data Devices - check/send email and do research on the go
• Digital Cameras - less skill, immediate results, no film or developing required
• Lean Methodolgy - great reduction in wasted work
• Agile Methodology - do more with less and get accurate results faster
